Stop in a cool shop that had bmx stuff most shops dont even offer it the person there new all about the sport so I will be back for sure.
As a proud citizen of the Only Waunakee in the World, I appreciate having a local bike repair option. While I have not purchased a bike from Wana Bike, I've used their repair services a number of times for my Trek 7700 and always have been pleased with the outcome. Prices for repairs are competitive with the Madison bike shops. Most recently, when the shifter on my bike was giving my problems, they found a replacement and got my back on the road in less than 24 hours. (Unlike the Trek Store on the West side that was unable to address this same problem, but that is a story for another review).
We came to the shop looking for a commuter bike for my Dad - a local customer. Each time we asked a question we were met with complete condescension.
I would remind the sales person that it is his job to educate the customer, and that information that is obvious to him (an expert) may not be obvious to the client.
The staff members are friendly and knowledgeable. They have made some minor adjustments to my daughter's bike at no charge on several occasions. The owner does seem to be on the phone a lot, so several times when I've dropped in I've had to wait for him to finish his call to get helped.
What a great shop! The owner was very helpful and very knowledgeable and passionate about bikes. Educated me on some basic maintenance for my bikes. Great guy. I will go there agai and again.
This wouldn't have been so bad, except that before leaving I was told: "You need to do your homework and get educated before coming in here".
It's very nice to have a local shop, running into Madison for parts, gear etc is a real pain. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Yes, it costs a little more. Ask yourself what's your and time, gas worth? I always end up saving $$ by shopping local...
We will be purchasing a bike elsewhere, and will not be returning to this shop for service in the future.
