The famous salad and soup bar was good, but far less variety than what we would have expected for a restaurant of this reputation (and price), right down to the imitation bacon bits and little bags of croutons.
This place is the best. A great soup and salad bar is seriously underrated and should be included in all great supper clubs. The Innkeeper knows this and never disappoints. Their haddock (fish) is ok, but you really ought to have the prime rib, broasted chicken, or chicken and dumplings.
Service was lovely, quick to arrive and get drinks on the table...but the food took over 40 minutes to be delivered, and it was 2 steaks, rare. Forgivable, until we quickly realized that the steak Oscar was made using imitation crab meat. Yikes!
The salad bar & the soup were awesome. Good rolls. The fried cod was a bit dry. I'd try it again to see if it was just a fluke or maybe order something other than the cod on Friday nights.
We came here for a birthday party and had a wonderful day. The food were well prepared, very delicious. I will definitely come here next time.
Still, the flavors were on...and the ambiance is always stellar.
All in all, a good meal...but not worth the money or time we spent. Hopefully it will be better next time!
Great old school Wisconsin Supper Club. Salad bar has a wide range of items. It is a meal in itself. Nightly specials from Friday night fish fry to Prime Rib Saturday night. Great friendly service every time I have been there. The day of your birthday the discount off your meal is your age. Menu has a lot to choose from. Big bar area to sit and wait from table to be ready. You can enjoy a classic cocktail.
